Set up sites, buildings, floors, counters and parkings

Every visit happens somewhere: a site, a building, a floor — and is processed at a counter. This structure is the foundation of reception, statistics and access rules.

Open the administration

  1. Open Hamilton Visitor.

  2. In the left menu, click Administration. The administration menu opens, organized in sections. All the screens below are in the Places section.

Manage sites and site groups

  1. Click "Sites management" to maintain the sites, and "Site groups management" for the groups used by multi-site filters and the portal.

  2. Both are standard list screens (see "Configure general settings and reference data" for the shared pattern).

Manage buildings and floors

  1. Click "Buildings management" and "Floors management".

  2. Attach each building to its site and each floor to its building: visits and filters use them to locate hosts and visitors.

Manage counters (guichets)

  1. Click "Counters management".

  2. Declare each reception counter. Receptionists work on a counter, and every visit records the counter that processed it — feeding the per-counter statistics ("Number of visits by counter") and the tablet configuration.

Manage parkings

  1. Click "Parkings management".

  2. Declare the parkings of each site: the vehicles module assigns arriving vehicles to them — see "Manage vehicles and parking" in the user guides.

Good to know

  • Deleting a place referenced by visits is blocked ("You cannot delete this element").

  • Restricted zones and localisations are managed separately — see "Define locations and restricted zones".
