Manage the devices
Open Hamilton Visitor, click Administration, then "Devices management" in the Devices section.
Declare each peripheral with its model and connection settings. The supported families include badge readers, identity document scanners (MRZ), webcams, biometric readers (fingerprint, vein), signature pads and radio devices.
Two tools ease fleet work:
Device QR code: generates the pairing code for mobile devices.
Device duplication: copies a configuration to deploy identical devices.
Assign the devices to workstations
In the Devices section, click "Devices assignment".
Filter by Site and select the workstation (Post).
Assign each slot — badge reader, identity document reader, business card reader, identification (fingerprint) reader, electronic signature pad — with its COM port where applicable.
Validate. The confirmation reminds you: "Please restart the workstation concerned for the new assignment to be taken into account".
Once assigned, the buttons appear in the flows: "Identity document" (MRZ scan) and webcam on the visit sheet, the signature step at check-in, badge search on the exit screens.
Enroll and test fingerprints
On sites using biometric identification:
In the Devices section, use the fingerprint acquisition screen to enroll a person's fingerprint.
Use the fingerprint test screen to verify recognition, and the deletion screen to remove enrollments.
Good to know
Device behavior at the desk depends on the assignment, not on the browser: same URL, different buttons per workstation.
The tablets used for self-service have their own configuration — see "Set up workstations, tablets and kiosks".
