Configure workstations and peripherals

Security posts are equipped: badge readers, ID scanners, patrol readers, fingerprint sensors, signature pads. Declaring the workstations and assigning their devices is what makes the hardware buttons appear on the agents' screens.

Manage the workstations

  1. Open Hamilton Security and click Administration in the left menu.

  2. In the Settings section, click "Posts management".

  3. Declare each workstation (post) with its name and site. Posts identify where events are recorded and which checklists and missions belong where.

Manage the peripherals

  1. In the Devices section, click "Devices management".

  2. Declare the peripherals available on the site: model and connection details for each reader, scanner or pad.

Assign the peripherals to workstations

  1. In the Devices section, click "Devices assignment".

  2. Filter by Site and select the Post.

  3. Assign a device to each slot, with its COM port where applicable:

    • Badge reader

    • Identity document reader

    • Business card reader

    • Patroller (patrol data download)

    • Identification reader (fingerprint)

    • Electronic signature pad

  4. Validate. The confirmation reminds you: "Please restart the workstation concerned for the new assignment to be taken into account".

Once assigned, the corresponding buttons appear in the flows: fingerprint at shift start, signature at key loans, patroller download in the learning mode.

Good to know

  • One assignment per workstation: moving a device to another desk means updating both posts.

  • Fingerprint enrollment and testing are done from the agents section — see "Manage agents, teams and qualifications".
